Picking an SVG converter usually means trusting a landing page: bold claims, a big upload button, and no way to know how clean the output really is. SVG Convert Lab is the antidote — an independent test bench that runs every converter through the same experiments and publishes the ranked results.
What we do
We collect the tools people use to convert between SVG and raster formats — auto-tracers, exporters, optimizers, and batch pipelines — and put each one through a controlled set of conversions. Instead of a ranking shaped by commissions, you get tiers built on what the tools actually produce.
How we test
Every converter faces the same bench, so results are comparable:
- The same sample suite — a fixed set of logos, photos, and line art that every tool converts.
- Path accuracy & node economy — how faithfully vectors trace the source, without bloating the file.
- Color fidelity — whether fills, gradients, and transparency survive the round trip.
- File size — the byte cost of the output, and how much optimizers can safely trim.
- Speed & batch behavior — conversion time and how consistent large jobs stay.
How we rank
Scores roll up into tested tiers, from reference-grade converters that clear every experiment down to the scrappy free tools that still earn a spot. The tiers here describe categories and criteria — full tool-by-tool results publish as each test pass completes.
Our promise
The bench is independent. Placement is never for sale, tiers are decided by measurement rather than commission, and results are re-run as tools change. Some links may be affiliate links that help fund the testing — but they never buy a better grade or a kinder writeup.
